God of mercy
look graciously upon lives so wantonly lost to a merciless sea;
each with a story to tell of the gentleness of human love,
the ache of a place deserted,
the fear of strangers encountered
and the hope of a different life.
Come in saving power to the lost, the bereaved and the traumatised.
Create footsteps in the sea and redeem what ended in such fear.
And help us to stay in prayer when attention is drawn elsewhere,
For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
